SD Kestrel Mk2 demining apron with a NATO STANAG 2920 V50 of 450m/s

At a customer’s request, we have modified the original Kestrel design and come up with something rather different. Still meeting the IMAS requirements, the Kestrel Mk2 armour is exceptionally light and comfortable, providing vital area protection whether standing or kneeling to excavate anti-personnel mines. The weight is is carried on the hips, with the fold-down flap hanging over the thighs. Our SD (design-registered) shaped inserts over the thigh mean that leg straps are not needed.

SD Part No.: SKU2019
Lightweight and comfortable for greater deminer efficeincy.

A generous chest pocket and optional shoulder straps for clipping a radio make the armour suitable for deminers and supervisors. The apron flap is intended to be raised when walking about, and down when excavating a device.

The collar has been designed to interface with our SD Platinum visor, the SD Mask Visor, the SD Standard visor and the SD Half visor. The relatively small and upright collar allows the wearer an easier view of their feet without compromising safety.

With a multi-layer Kevlar/polyamide inner, broad straps and a padded belt, the armour weighs less than 2.7kg. The cover is made using Cordura® textured nylon which is washable, exceptionally long-lasting and resistant to abrasions, tears and scuffs, so making an excellent outer to the high-performance core of the armour. Colours may vary between dye lots.

NOTE: Like most other PPE, SD armours are designed to be water-resistant. Users should avoid getting the core of any armour wet because this can reduce the protection it offers. If the core of armour gets wet, allow the garment to dry naturally before use. Do not tumble-dry or expose to heaters.
